Centre a heading across a number of columns
This is particularly good for those people who put spaces at
the beginning of a heading, to make it look like it's centred. E.g. you
want to centre a heading in row 2 across columns A-E.
-
Put your heading in the leftmost cell of the heading row,
e.g. A2
-
Highlight from the heading cell across to the rightmost
column, e.g. A2-E2
-
Click on the Format menu and select Cells
-
Click on the Alignment tab
-
Under Text Alignment and Horizontal, click on the drop down
box and select Center Across Selection
-
Click OK
If you resize the columns, your heading will automatically
centre again. You need to make sure you don't type any other information
into any of the cells that your heading is centred across. Note: your
heading is still in cell A1 although it may look like it's in C1.
